Welcome Archbishop Mulhall

On behalf of all of our friars serving in the Archdiocese of Kingston – Ontario, Fr. David Collins, OFM Conv. (pictured at left) welcomed the newly installed Archbishop, the Most Reverend Michael Mulhall, after the celebration of the Eucharist and Installation, on Friday, May 3, 2019. Archbishop Mulhall was installed by His Excellency, the Most Reverend Luigi Bonazzi, Apostolic Nuncio to Canada, at the Cathedral of St. Mary of the Immaculate Conception, in Kingston, Ontario. A number Archbishops and Bishops from across Canada were also present.
When appointed Archbishop of Kingston by the Holy Father on March 28, 2019, Archbishop Mulhall was serving as the Bishop of the Diocese of Pembroke. The Most Reverend Brendan M. O’Brien retired at the end of April 2019, after serving for twelve years as Kingston’s Archbishop.
Of the eleven Order priests serving in the Archdiocese of Kingston, Our Lady of the Angels Province Delegation of St. Francis of Assisi has three: Friar David, Fr. James Fukes, OFM Conv. and Fr. Edward Debono, OFM Conv. These three friars reside in the St. Anthony Friary and serve in multiple ministries, including the Parish Community of St. John the Apostle (Friar David – Pastor), Kingston General Hospital (Friar David – Chaplain), Holy Family Parish (Friar James – Pastor), Regiopolis-Notre Dame Catholic High School (Friar James – Chaplain) and the Sisters of Providence of St. Vincent de Paul (Friar Edward – Chaplain).
Our Province Delegation of St. Francis of Assisi was newly erected on February 14, 2019, from our province friars serving in Ontario, Canada. Our delegation includes eight more friars, serving in two other diocese, at five additional ministries.
