In late 2015, +Fr. Peter Damian Fehlner, OFM Conv. returned to the Franciscan Friars Conventual Order. He re-professed his Solemn Vows with our province, on September 17, 2016. Although he began his live as a Franciscan in our Order 55 years prior, for 20 years, he had been serving as a member of the Franciscans of the Immaculate (FI). He died May 8, 2018, once again as a Conventual Friar. It was less than two years after fulfilling his greatest wish of returning “home” to us. He spend those last months assigned to the St. Joseph Cupertino Friary which serves the needs of the pilgrims to our Shrine of St. Anthony ministry, in Ellicott City, MD. We had joyfully welcomed him home and he was a strong and beloved presence at the Shrine, where he is dearly missed.
