On October 11, 2017, Ministers’ Provincial, Formation & Vocation Directors and Prefects of Formation from across the CFF: Conventual Franciscan Federation gathered for a Formation Assembly. The primary task of the gathering was to prepare a final draft of the CFF Initial Formation Directory to be approved at the Provincial Chapters in 2018 (Side Note: Chapters are gatherings of the friars to examine the life of each province – every four years –  or the life of the Order at the Ordinary General Chapter- every seven years. It is a time of re-election of leadership, examining values and formulating choices for the next four or seven years).
The CFF Formation Assembly began with a presentation from Friar Louis Panthiruvelil, OFM Conv. Secretary General for Formation for our Order. Fr. Louis (picture insert) presented various formation initiatives of the Order currently underway, as well as the major revision of the Order’s principal document regarding Formation – Franciscan Discipleship, to be presented to the Ordinary General Chapter of 2019.
A special thank you to the friars and staff of Marytown for their warm welcome and hospitality.
