Pray for Vocations

Holy Spirit Prayer
Come, Holy Spirit, fill the hearts of Thy faithful
and enkindle in them the fire of Thy love.
V. Send forth Thy Spirit and they shall be created.
R. And Thou shalt renew the face of the earth.
Let us pray: O God, Who didst instruct the hearts of the faithful
by the light of the Holy Spirit,
grant us in the same Spirit to be truly wise,
and ever to rejoice in His consolation.
Through Christ our Lord. Amen.

Jen Norton piece featuring the “Holy Spirit Prayer” by St. Augustine

Today the Church begins its novena to the Holy Spirit as it prepares for Pentecost Sunday. We pray that the Holy Spirit will inspire men to hear God’s prompting in their hearts and to follow the Lord as Franciscan Friars Conventual.

A Friar’s Vocation Prayer
May my life of prayer and service, O Lord, show those I serve the reality of Your Love.
Make me poor, chaste and holy that I may be an example to all who cross my path.
May everything I do tell others I am happy serving them;
may my life be a sign to Your people, especially to those who so carefully observe me, of the joy that should be mine in my vocation.
Use me and my work, O Lord, that I may be the means of bringing dedicated vocations to my Franciscan family.
Amen

Communal Prayer for Vocations and Perseverance
Blessed father Francis, look upon the family who follow the poor Christ in the way of the gospel. May we always serve the Lord and the people of God by being builders of the Church.
V. Pray for us, blessed father Francis.
R. Help us become worthy of the promises of Christ.
Let us Pray: God, You have enriched Your Church through the life and fraternity of our blessed father Francis. Lead us to forsake the things of earth so as to share the gifts of Your kingdom.
We ask this through Christ our Lord.
Amen

Prayer Before the Crucifix
Most High,
Glorious God,
enlighten the darkness of my heart
and give me
true faith,
certain hope,
and perfect charity,
sense and knowledge,
Lord, that I may carry out
Your holy and true command.  (FAED, Vol 1, p.40)
