Upcoming Profession of Simple Vows

Each year, our friars gather for our Annual Province Jubilee Celebration. This year’s noontime celebration will take place on Monday, July 24, 2017, where we will not only honor all those friars of our province who celebrate Profession and Ordination Anniversaries, but we will also be supporting friar Jason DeMartini, as he professes his Simple Vows of Poverty, Chastity and Obedience.
Last year’s Celebration of the Profession of Simple Vows (also known as First or Temporary) was held in California and included seven Novices the CFF (all Franciscan Friars Conventual Provinces of North America). In the USA, the Order is divided into four provinces based broadly on geographical region. Roughly simplified, our province is located along the East Coast. Saint Bonaventure Province is based in the Midwest, Our Lady of Consolation Province operates in both the Midwest and Southwest. Finally, Saint Joseph of Cupertino Province is based in California. All of these provinces send novices to the Interprovincial Novitiate in Arroyo Grande, CA. Friars from Great Britian & Ireland – a Provincial Custody of our province, Australia – a Provincial Delegation of Saint Bonaventure Province and Canada – a custody of Poland, also go the California Novitiate.
After spending his formation years in Chicago, IL (Postlancy) and Arroyo Grande, CA (Novitiate), it will be wonderful to have friar Jason back in our Province to celebrate our “old” professed as he becomes our “newly” professed.
Please keep friar Jason and all of our friars in formation, in your continued prayers. For more information about becoming a Franciscan Friar Conventual, please check out our Vocations page.
